Dr Gil Burton is a highly experienced Obstetrician and certified Urogynaecologist who works at Royal North Shore Hospital, North Shore Private Hospital and the Mater Hospital. His dual qualifications and experience means he helps a lot of women with complex problems. He has a particular interest in achieving excellent Obstetric outcomes with as minimal pelvic impact as possible.
He has extra training, qualifications and expertise in the diagnosis and management of pelvic floor disorders and lower urinary tract conditions. Using his experience and advanced Urogynaecological training he has treated many women of all ages with pelvic floor injuries and returned them to full and active lives.
Dr Burton has built an advanced Urodynamic assessment facility with completely dedicated diagnostic rooms for continence and pelvic floor disorders. He operates at North Shore Private Hospital, The Mater and Royal North Shore Hospital.
He sees patients at his office at North Shore Private Hospital and also runs a Public Urogynaecology clinic at Royal North Shore Hospital.
He graduated from the University of Sydney and he did his Obstetric and Gynaecology training at Royal North Hospital. He won a scholarship to do Subspecialist Urogynaecology training in London at King's College. He was one of the first Australians to achieve Urogynaecology Certification by examination.
He has been an Examiner for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and has been Chairperson of the Subspecialties Committee. He is an inaugural member of the Urogynaecological Society of Australasia and ran their first scientific meeting.
Dr Burton has been Head of Department at Royal North Shore Hospital and the Mater Hospital. He has multiple different teaching and academic roles at the University of Sydney, UTS and Notre Dame University and has ongoing research projects.
